Dr. SEWARD,Paul
Agricultural scientist-Farm Input Promotions Africa (FIPS-Africa),Nairobi, Kenya.

Dr. Seward has Twelve years experience in agricultural development in Kenya, firstly as a network co-ordinator for an international Soils Research Organisation (TSBF), and secondly as a Director/Technical Adviser of a local NGO, which has made a significant impact in improving the livelihoods of small-scale farmers in West Kenya. 

He will be resposible in developing an innovative methodology (closely linking research into, supply of, and extension of the need to use the appropriate farm inputs) to improve the livelihoods, and in particular the food security of the poorest small-scale farmers.  The internationally-recognised methodology, centered around the “Mini-pack method”, empowers small-scale farmers to experiment with, and adopt the appropriate farm inputs to improve their food security.

he has a strong technical background in soil science and plant nutrition, Dr. Seward worked in new product development for Norsk Hydro (now Yara), the World’s largest fertilizer manufacturer and distributor, and am using my experience to develop new improved fertilizer products and make them accessible to small-scale farmers

Project role/responsibility:To develop improved crop management practices to reduce the impact of climate change; building links with private sector to ensure appropriate technology is made accessible to small farmers.
