Farm Input Promotions Africa Ltd (FIPS-Africa)

FIPS-Africa is a not-for-profit company based in Kenya with offices in Tanzania, providing technical and promotional experience with respect to improving small farmers’ access to appropriate farm inputs. FIPS-Africa’s mission is to improve the food security and livelihoods of small farmers by improving their access to appropriate farm inputs.

FIPS-Africa works closely with private sector companies to ensure inputs are packaged in small affordable quantities and promotes these amongst communities of small farmers and agricultural extensionists and NGO staff. Having been trained on optimum crop management methods through participatory research trials, farmers return to their local farm input shops to purchase inputs in larger quantities to improve their food security.  Since its inception in 2003, FIPS-Africa has reached approximately 250,000 farmers. Many of these farmers have increased their maize yields by as much as 5 times from 450kg/ acre to 2250 kg/ acre!
